Prime Big Deal Days 2026 is on Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7. It’s Amazon’s fall sale for Prime members, and most people call it October Prime Day. Amazon says it starts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6 (3:01 a.m. EDT) and ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on October 7. That’s 48 hours.

You need a Prime membership to get the event prices. Amazon says eligible new members can start a 30-day free trial and still shop the sale.

Things you were going to buy anyway

This sale works best for stuff already on your list: the kitchen gadget you’ve been eyeing, the replacement headphones, the gift you’d otherwise buy in December. Open the product page and tap Amazon’s “Price History” link, which shows up to 365 days of prices (per Amazon’s FAQ). If today’s price is the lowest on that chart, buy it. If it’s been lower before, you can afford to wait.

Amazon’s own devices

Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, Ring and Blink are Amazon’s own products, so Amazon controls their prices directly. In its early deals for this event, Amazon’s announcement lists up to 45% off select devices and bundles and up to 70% off select Blink bundles. Those are Amazon’s numbers, not mine. I’ll post the specific ones I’d buy in the Top 10 once the prices are live.

Early holiday gifts and toys

Amazon is pushing its Top 100+ Toys list and Holiday Shop for this event. If you already know what a kid on your list wants, buying early beats hunting for it in December when popular toys sell out.

Household staples you use every week

Paper towels, coffee, pet supplies, detergent. Amazon’s announcement lists up to 40% off Amazon Basics household staples and pet supplies in its early deals. If you have the space, stock up on what you’d buy anyway. Buying stuff you don’t use isn’t saving money.

Big-ticket items you don’t need this month

TVs, laptops, big appliances. You get a second shot on Black Friday (Nov 27, 2026). Check the price history now and again then.

How to tell a real deal from a fake discount

A crossed-out “list price” is the store’s number, not proof of a deal. Two checks I use:

  1. Price history. Amazon’s own Price History link on the product page. A drop that only undoes a recent price hike isn’t a deal.
  2. The timestamp. Every price on SlickRish shows when it was last checked. If it’s hours old during a 48-hour sale, click through and look before you get excited.
